I am a proud ex-stamp collector and I am here to say that stamp collectors can have their part in the wedding design process! The idea is this … Use vintage (unused) postage stamps as a wonderfully sweet way to show your love of stamps. This vintage idea adds just a little bit of flare to your wedding invitations that will leave your guests loving stamps too! Photo credit: The Wedding Work Room Here are just a few tips to get you started: 1) To buy vintage stamps, trying looking at flea markets, www.ebay.com , and www.championstamp.com Start buying stamps early! You never know how many stamps each invitation will need to meet postage requirements. 2) Stamps are normally priced at face value. This means your 15¢ stamp will still have the postage rate of 15¢ valued today. Think about this when you are searching for stamps and remember that wedding invitations average about 60¢ to $1.00. 3) Be prepared to glue. The adhesive of the original vintage stamp will most likely need to be licked (or use a sponge). To be safe and ensure they stick, use a glue stick. 4) After preparing your first invitation, it is best to take the completed wedding invitation to the post office to confirm the exact postage rate.
