DIY Wedding Dresses!

Calling all die-hard DIY brides! If you love DIY projects and are planning a DIY wedding … this post may be for you. I love the idea of including handmade projects in your wedding day. It gives a nice personal touch and can often save you some serious cash.

Today I’d like to share some ideas, inspiration and how-tos for DIY wedding dresses! First off, I must simply state that anyone who takes on the task of making their own wedding dress deserves a MAJOR pat on the back. This is no small project! But if you are able to pull it off, it’s a great way to have a wedding dress that is totally unique, totally special, and completely YOU! Lets get to it …

The first DIY dress I’d like to show you is for brides on a very strict budget … Or brides who simply don’t wish to spend a lot of money on their wedding dress. This is a tutorial on how to make a $10 wedding dress . Yep – Ten Dollars! That was not a typo. This dress is made from T-shirts and would be perfect for a super casual wedding.

Here is another T-shirt wedding dress .

These next dresses are convertible dresses . The great thing about this dress is that you can change the look of the dress to fit your style and shape! They are also simple to make … with only a few seams.

Priscilla and Thread Social – A Perfect Pair!

Being a Boston bride, I have a special place in my heart for Priscilla of Boston . While I did not walk down the isle in one of their gowns (my runner up was from the Vineyard collection, however), I had a fantastic experience in their Newbury Street flagship store. The gowns are gorgeous and well made, and come in styles to suit almost any bride and any budget. And if that weren’t enough, the service was excellent.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was to hear that Priscilla has teamed up with Thread Social to create a collection of party dresses that would look fabulous at any wedding (or other event, for that matter). You may already know the pieces turned out by Beth Blake and Melissa Akey – their fashion-forward bridal line Thread consistently turns out fresh and fun dresses for modern brides and their attendants. And of course, it’s hard to miss the glamorous and youthful looks Thread Social is so famous for.
